OUR MISSION

Shawnee Development Council is a non-profit Community Action Agency that has been serving Southernmost Illinois since 1965.

We are committed to enabling individuals, families, and communities to access the resources they need to accomplish their goals.

We offer services to those residing in Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, and Union Counties in Illinois. We strive to make a meaningful and transformative difference in the lives of those we serve.

UPDATES

9.17.24- We are now scheduling LIHEAP appointments for October. October is a priority period for disconnections, 60 and older, families with children 5 and under, and those who are disabled. Please contact your local county office for an appointment. See flyer for details here.

9.3.24- We have received a toys for tots donation and will be distributing toys to families in the area all throughout September and into October. Click here to see a full list of dates and times!

7.1.24- Our new Hardin County office will open on July 3rd at 1509 Main Street, Rosiclare IL. Our new phone number is 618-285-7071.

5.1.24- A blessing box has been opened at our Karnak location to provide food to those in need. Read more about this project here.
